360 Degree Video of Rock On Anthem – Bollywood

Bollywood appears to be bitten by VR bug. Bahubali-2 is already in news worldwide for creating some amazing 360 degree videos and then promising a VR experience in April, 2017 – Sword of Bahubali. Other film makers too don’t want to be left behind. They are using 360 degree and VR in their own way, mostly for promotions and marketing on social media. Rock On-2 360 degree video is one such attempt. Apart from hosting live concerts in major cities in India, the Team Rock On has released a 360 degree video of “Rock On Anthem”. The 360 degree video of Rock On 2 is receiving great response so far. Rock on-2 is sequel of Rock on – a 2008 Bollywood blockbuster. The movie is about four musician friends from “Magik Band”, who fail to make it big due to misunderstanding. Years later, they reunite and reignite their dream by forgetting their woes to embark on a journey they left incomplete.

We had a closer look at the video and were impressed with the idea. The video tries to give the user an experience of standing in the middle while the the “Magic Band” plays Rock On Anthem around him. If you put on a VR Cardboard or headset, you will feel as if you are there, virtually. The 360 degree video features Farhan Akhtar, Shradha Kapoor, Arjun Rampal, Purab Kohli and Shashank Arora.

You would need to have latest YouTube app or a browser that supports 360 videos. For better experience we suggest you use 1080s or HD streaming. For watching on mobile to get an immersive experience, the phone needs to be VR compatible. Check the section – VR compatibility of phones in the following post.

You can also buy a cardboard from Amazon if you do not wish to invest in a VR headset. We think Team Rock On should host various VR events to showcase the 360 degree video with good quality headsets. It will be a good use case for fans to purchase VR headsets rather than cheap inspired versions of cardboard that spoils the whole VR experience.

Couple of suggestion to the team Rock On. They should lower the height of the camera. Currently the user does not completely feel as if he is standing in the middle. Also, the interaction of the actors with the 360 degree camera could have been a bit better. Though not a big issue, but the tripod should be edited and replaced with Rock ON brand. Bahubali 2 VR has already raised the bar with best technology usage and great VR experience.

We wish Team Rock On a huge success. Hope to see more 360 degree and VR content coming from Bollywood.
